To grow, we have to welcome change

Change… what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Really take a second to think about it. What’s the first thing that comes to your mind?

The first thing that comes to my mind is, discomfort.

And that applies to any type of change, at least for me. When I think about getting physically fit (I’m kind of skinny), I think of discomfort. That’s literally what’s happening on a biological level. Muscle fibers have to break down in order to get stronger, that’s change.

My wife and I are about to have a baby, huge change. It’s exciting but frightening at the same time. Am I going to be able to be a good dad? Can I take care of another human? What’s going to change in my own life?

See what I mean by change? It requires discomfort for it to happen but it’s there to make you a better person if you see it that way. I know it’s easier said than done and I have a hard times seeing change from that point of view sometimes but in retrospect… I’m always grateful change happened.

Change can be big or change can be small, but regardless, change requires commitment and a peaceful mind.
